3 & 4 Year Old Funding

2 year old Funding

Free childcare for two year olds !

Most childcare providers charge families for the care they provide. However some two year olds are eligible to receive 570 hours of free childcare.

Is my two year old eligible for free childcare?

If your family already receives certain benefits and tax credits you may be able to get this free childcare. The funding is not open to every child.

If you meet the criteria and have been awarded the funding, you will receive a letter from Hereford Council. This letter will tell you when the funding starts. The funding will last until your child receives the three and four-year-old funding.

Funding

We can fund up to 15 hours of childcare and education per week for 38 weeks a year. You usually have to take these hours over three days each week. This funding starts at the beginning of the school term following your child's second birthday.

Places are limited, so you will have to complete an application form and then if eligable you can then decide the fairest way to use the funding.

When does my child's funding start?

If your Child's Birthday falls between      Term funding starts

1 April - 31 August       - -                                   September

1 September - 31 December  - -                          January

1 January - 31 March - -                                         April

More details about free childcare and the rules around free childcare entitlement can be confusing and we understand you may have questions about how the funding works.
